We open at 7:00 PM most Friday evenings. Visitors are welcome, but if you are planning a special trip, please contact us beforehand to confirm.

This year we are intending to show the largest group of layouts that we have managed to accommodate in the clubroom and adjoining spaces.
A varied range of scales will be represented, ranging from ‘G’ to ‘N’. With our celebrated ‘0’scale ‘Kensington Addison Road’ and ’00’ ‘Northwick’ layouts using the the main space in the hall. + refreshments, of course!

A new arrival for the small West Brompton layout are 3D-printed production masters for the Q38 trailer cars, required for our second District Line train.
The photo shows the bodyshell with two ends taped into position and mounted on the correct (asymmetrical) bogies, but does not do justice to the quality of the parts. The 3D prints will be used as the basis for moulds for resin castings for the production kits.

With the layout now fully operational again, save for a couple of minor ‘snags’, attention is turning to building an additional baseboard for this well regarded 00 layout. This unusual train appeared the other Friday evening:

‘Northwick’, 00. Layout Group leader, Tim, with his outsize load train. Scratchbuilt boiler transporter wagon with a load for a Power Station boiler ‘Heat Recovery Unit’ as a load.

Our new small ‘0’ layout, ‘West Brompton’, is proceeding apace. With track fixed and wiring complete, the team have turned to the the station buildings. Whilst some construction was done at home, a Friday evening work session provided an opportunity to see this building temporarily in place.

Model 1:43. District Ry Train Shed -West Brompton station. interior of roof and footbridge
Phone pic of the superb train-shed roof construction and footbridge.

Constructed using original drawings, walls of the building are several laser cut MDF layers, the right side continues beyond the building to form a high, arched, retaining wall. The bowed roof is formed of soldered brass wire and structural sections, overlaid with wood planking, except for the central glazed area that allows light into the otherwise dark structure.
An unusual footbridge exisits at West Brompton; it has a double stairway in the same direction from the overhead walkway to the platforms. The walkway connects to the ticket office and to the adjacent West London line station. Brass sections have been utilised for the construction, supplemented by custom brass etchings for the fine stairway balustrades.
