Eastgate – A small ‘modern image’ layout

Eastgate is a small ‘modern image’ layout in a 3m space is a challenge that precludes most of the very large trains of today’s railway.

Eastgate features PECO code 75 flat bottom track with points operated by servos.
DC or DCC may be used for loco control. MERG cbus is used for the two control panels, one of which may be mounted either at the front or rear of the layout and used for the freight and shunting operations. At present the layout is operational, but with a few teething snags to fix, whilst the town itself is getting a facelift.

Eastgate started as a beginners project to encourage modern image modellers to join the Club, and alltough this layout is small, we also have a large multigauge continuous run test track for more ambitious modern image operators.
